How to connect Revit to Excel (and Google Sheets)

Architects often want Revit model data in Microsoft Excel or Google Sheets — any category, type catalogs, and schedules — and a way to send approved changes back to the model.

Common approaches

Teams usually export from Revit, use Dynamo, or use a spreadsheet add-in. An export is a one-way copy. Sending changes back to Revit is a separate step.

Archana Tables

Archana Tables is in development. It is a Microsoft Excel add-in and a Google Sheets add-on. It pulls Revit model data (any category, type catalogs, and schedules) into Excel or Google Sheets and sends approved changes back to the model.

Questions

Can I edit Revit schedules in Excel?

Yes. You can export a Revit schedule to Excel, and Archana Tables, in development, pulls any category, type catalogs, and schedules into Excel.

Can I push Excel changes back to Revit?

An export does not update the model by itself. Archana Tables, in development, sends approved changes back from Excel or Google Sheets for any category, type catalogs, and schedules.

Does it work with Google Sheets?

Yes. Archana Tables, in development, works in Google Sheets and Excel, pulling any category, type catalogs, and schedules into the sheet and sending approved changes back to the model.
